The Ragusa area
Ragusa is located in the southernmost part of Sicily. It is the wealthiest province of Sicily with a 300,000 inhabitants and a flowering commerce specialised in the Agriculture. Tourism is also a significant economic activity due to the numerous historical places and spectacular baroque architecture of Ragusa. City public transport is very convenient, moreover, most of the venues and city’s attractions are in the walking distance.
Ragusa is known for its mild climate and excellent Indian summer weather.
Convenient roads allow easy access to Ragusa from the rest of Sicily.
The closest airport is Catania Airport (1 hour and 30 minutes by car/bus). This is the fourth largest airport in Italy, with more than 4 millions passengers and direct flights to Paris, Brussels, London, Berlin, Munich, Malta and all the main Italian cities (including Rome and Milan). Main airlines are Alitalia, Lufthansa, Air Malta, Meridiana, British Airways, Air Berlin, LTU and other local carriers. Low cost airlines serve the airport also. A new airport should be operating in Comiso (15km from Ragusa Centre), the date of the official opening has not been announced yet.
Furthermore, ferries and hovercrafts connect the Port of Pozzallo and Malta. The trip takes less than 3 hours.
